Between customs duties, VAT, administration fees and the specificities of each country, it's sometimes difficult to find one's way around. And yet, anticipating these costs can help you avoid unpleasant surprises on delivery, and make more informed choices at the time of purchase.

  • Customs fees on a parcel arriving in France

When a parcel arrives in France (in our warehouse) from a country outside the European Union, several charges may apply, including VAT and customs duties. TVA et les droits de douane.

VAT is payable from the first euro for all imports. The standard rate of VAT in France is 20%

Customs dutieson the other hand, depend on the nature and value of the goods imported. You can estimate them here 

  • Customs fees on a parcel abroad or in French overseas departments and territories

Customs fees vary from country to country. Depending on the type of merchandise, the carrier's handling charges and the VAT rate applicable in the destination country. 

Special case : 

  • If you buy in France to be delivered in a country that is part of the European Union, there are no customs fees. 
  • If you live in a French overseas department or territory, customs fees take the form of "Octroi de mer", which must be paid upon arrival of the package.

It is difficult to calculate them in advance because the tax rates are complex to use. However, there are tools that can do this calculation for you to get an estimate of the customs fees: 

  • Simply Duty : customs fees calculator where you just have to enter the type of item and its value, the origin and the destination to get an estimate. 
  • Your country's customs website Some customs websites also offer a fee calculator. 
When do you have to pay these fees?

Customs fees are not included in Easy Delivery rates.

  • If your parcel arrives in our warehouse in France with customs charges: we will pay them on your behalf and charge them back to you. 
  • If your parcel arrives with customs charges: these are payable to the carrier on arrival at destination, after customs clearance.

Please bear in mind that payment of these charges is compulsory in order to collect the parcel.
